Background

NGO GG was informally formed in 2000 with the initiated from international expatriate and national gender concerns person. With the support from the international organizations from inland and abroad, NGO GG was established in late 2003. Since that time NGO GG is having regular monthly gathering and sharing experiences on gender related issues, gender related research studies, capacity building, conducting Gender Action Research Learning Process with partner NGOs, celebrate the International Women’s Day, Myanmar Women’s Day, 16 days activism, organize gender related workshops and implementing the Gender sensitive livelihood intervention in Bogalay township.

Vision/Mission

Envision NGO GG as a change agent for mainstreaming gender equality in Myanmar Society NGO Gender Group is a national formed group to promote gender equality in Myanmar through collaboration, facilitation, capacity building initiative and network with multiple organizations especially NGOs, FBOs and CBOS engaged in development and humanitarian programs in Myanmar and direct project intervention activities.

Main objective

1. To advocate NGO/FBO/CBO in Myanmar to contribute towards gender responsive society
2. To strengthen the NGO GG to become sustainable organization
3. To network with multiple organization in land and abroad for gender and development issues in Myanmar
4. To enhance the capacity of CBO/LNGO/FBO for gender mainstreaming.

Main activities

- Action Research Learning Program: Series of workshop organized for partners to do gender action research
- Facilitate gender related trainings/workshops: gender awareness training, gender analysis training, mainstreaming gender in Reproductive Health, gender audit, CEDAW awareness, Media and Gender workshop, gender and good governance, gender and interfaith, gender mainstreaming in MDGs, gender and climate change, gender trainer’s and gender focal person workshops, and seminar on Gender and HIV, Gender and Media
- Gender Training of Trainers
- Monthly sharing meeting: regular meeting organizes every fi rst Thursday of the month, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at NGO GG offi ces. Sharing and learning program for NGO GG members.

Primary benefi ciaries

Community members especially single mothers, widows, elderly women, young women children and men, NGO staff, development workers and humanitarian workers from NGO communities, faith based organizations, and community based organizations and private sectors
